Our own trades, and the teams on site day to day

The honest version of this question is more useful than the flattering one, so here is the honest version.

Two of the trades are our own companies

Windows and glazing are delivered by AtoZ Design & Glass. Kitchens and joinery are delivered by Selection.Works. Both are our own, which is why a window survey does not wait three weeks for a third party's diary and why a joinery revision is a conversation rather than a variation negotiation.

They are separate companies rather than departments, and we say so — describing a supplier as though it were the same legal entity is the sort of small overstatement that turns into a real problem in a dispute.

The rest are long-standing trade teams

Groundworks, brickwork, carpentry, plastering, electrical and mechanical are delivered by trade teams we have worked with for years, on our contract and to our programme.

We are not going to claim a full-time in-house team on site daily, because it would not be true and a claim like that is checkable in an afternoon. What is true is that they are the same teams job after job, which is the part that actually shows in the finish. A price that beats everyone else's is usually a crew nobody has worked with before.

  • AtoZ Design & Glass — windows and glazing, our own company
  • Selection.Works — kitchens and joinery, our own company
  • Established trade teams on our contract for the remaining trades
  • One named project manager on site, and Vladimir on every site weekly

Why this is the version worth telling you

A homeowner comparing quotes cannot verify a claim about employment structure and mostly should not try. What they can verify is continuity: ask any builder how long the plasterer who will be in your house has worked with them, and whether the same person will still be running the job in week nine.

Those two answers separate contractors more reliably than any badge on a website, including ours.

Where each of these is evidenced

Asked before signing

Do you use your own trades or subcontractors?

Both, and we are specific about which. Windows and joinery come from our own companies — AtoZ Design & Glass and Selection.Works. The other trades are long-standing teams working on our contract.

Will the same people be on my job throughout?

The project manager is the same from contract to handover. Trades change by stage, as they must, but they are the same teams we use job after job rather than whoever is available.

Is anyone from 2VP on site every day?

The project manager runs the site day to day, and Vladimir is on every 2VP site weekly. We do not claim a full-time in-house crew on site daily, because that is not how the work is structured.
